As a new subscriber, I have been reading the messages with great interest. I
was particularly interested in Diantha Howard's message of 10 October.
Although I have no knowledge of the families she is researching, my interest
was aroused by another instance of 'Wilmot' as a baptismal name. My
4xg.grandmother was Wilmot Aplin who married Robert Browning at Hemyock, Devon
on 25 December 1781. Unfortunately she was not baptised at Hemyock and I am
still trying to trace where she was born.
Does anyone researching in Devon know whether Wilmot was a common name to give
a girl?
I would also dearly like to hear from anyone researching the Aplin/Browning
families or anyone who may have come across Wilmot during the course of their
research.
Many thanks.
