Hello Graig & everyone,
Now don't say I never do anything for you!
Here is a list of the Devonshire Monumental Inscription Books I found lurking on the
shelves at the S. of G. back in July 1995.
Vol. 1 was missing - I kept on going to have a look to no avail.
Vol 2: Whitchurch; Plymouth Charles; St Mary's Church Lifton; Chardstock; Crediton;
Shebbeer; Sidbury;
Vol 3 - don't seem to have made a note of this. Perhaps it was missing too.
Vol 4 - Appledore; Bideford; Bow; Brayford Baptist Chapel; Brixham; Broadhempston:
( there were BINMORE people here) Budleigh Salterton; Bulkworthy; Cadbury; Cheriton
Fitzpaine; Clannaborough; Colebrooke - St Andrew;
Vol 5 - Crediton; Down St Mary; Exeter Holy Trinity; Hemyock (church & Baptist Chapel)
Huxham;Ilsington (Methodist Church); Kennerleigh; Embankment Rd Cemetery: Loxhore:
(this included some from Throwleigh and Gidleigh, including Dunning at Throwleigh in
the 1800s, Lords of the Manor of Wonson. Knapmans and Northmores were at Wonson
in the 1600s & 1700s).
Vol 6 - Lustleigh; Plymouth - Pennycross Church; Morchard Bishop; Netherexe; Newton
St Cyres; Coverdale Churchyard Paignton (Binmore here); Plymouth Charles Churchyard
(destroyed by bombing 1939-45); Poltimore; Posbury St Luke: Puddington; Rewe - St Mary the Virgin;
Vol 7 - Sandford; Stockleigh; Shobrooke; Stoke Canon; Sidmouth; Tamerton Foliot;
Tavistock; Thorverton; Upton Hellions: Washford Pyne; Woolfardisworthy; Yeoford; Zeal
Monachorum;
Vol 8 - Bickleigh; Bishops Nympton; Brixham St Mary's; East Budleigh; Creacombe; Filleigh;
Heavitree; South Hulsh, nr. Kingsbridge; Lydford; Meshaw; Morleigh; Plympton St Maurice;
Rose Ash; Salcombe; South Tawton; Twitcham; Venn (Baptist Burial Ground); Witheridge;
Plymouth Brethren at Withycombe Raleigh; Withycombe Raleigh churchyard; Cornwood;
That's all folks.
I have no idea where these volumes are resting in Devon. I hope someone can supply
the answer because I could do with another trwal through them now, after 3 years
have passed by!
Regards,
Doreen
