Am new to this list.
Looking for Jordan's but my family seemes to be in Gloucestershire.
Saw message from Kevin asking about farm leases where arranged and
stored/kept afterwards. Didnot
see a reply but could have gone direct to Kevin.
I have will of my 9th GT Grandfather who pased away in 1614.
One of his bequeaths goes.
My son William Jorden shall have and enjoy the other half of my lands
during the residue of the lease
of one thousand years yet to come and not expired.
What does this mean? Did the word lease mean same thing in 1600's as now?
If so can this
sort of lease be looked up now?
He also referred to himself as "super carrant of the parish" What is this?
Also left money to several ," my godson" To names I know same as
grandchildren. Did godson mean
Grandson in 1600's?
Know asking lot but maybe someone is expert on this.
Thanks Norman Jordan----------
