I have always assumed that NK meant NOT KNOWN. I rather doubt that it
is Norfolk as NONE of my Essery One Name Studies have ever turned up in
that County and I have several NKs in various Census's. If I am right
then you will need to find them in another Census.

In each case where NK was used the person in question was a servant of
some sort, I would assume the Master/Mistress of the house answering the
questions could not be bothered to call in some lowly servant to ask
them where they were born - some of them may not know either!
