Not all BANNS or LICENSE are noted on the Parish Records. Some clerks were
just did not complete everything and so, did not record each BANNS or
LICENSE.
You must see the complete page not just an extraction of one line.
Usually on the right side of the entry are the letter "B" or "L" thats all
you get to indicate BANNS or LICENSE.
If you can see the original Parish Records there may be a copy of the
certificate of the Banns with the recording of the dates the Banns were
published (announced in the church of churches if two perishes were
involved).

Hi Chris
I have just looked up the marriage certificate for my ancestors who were
both widowed before marrying each other & there is no mention of whether
they were married by Banns or Licence. They were married in The Queen St
Chapel, Wolverhampton, Staffs according to the Rites of the Independant
Denomination, so maybe only C of E & RC churches needed the Banns/Licence.
