I was pleased to have more expert confirmation of my answer!

Let me add just one little comment on your message. I assume Fairy
Cross must be a (very) modern parish, since it is not included in the
listing of Devon's Ancient and Modern Parishes (as of 1974) in
GENUKI/Devon at:

http://www.cs.ncl.ac.uk/genuki/DEV/DevonParishes.html

GENUKI, in keeping with standard genealogical practice, is organized
in terms of ancient parishes, hence my reference to Hoops being in
Parkham.
