We corresponded on this subject back in July and I made a number of
suggestions including TNA and Guildhall Library. At the latter his record
in Lloyds Captains Register should tell you the ships he served on, and with
luck a note of his death. Once you have the name of the ship, you can check
on the ship's voyages in Lloyd's List, which may also contain details of any
accidents/incidents. I regret I am not able to do this for you at present
as I am recovering from knee surgery.
