For those interested in George Goodwin Dewey, a transcription of the brief Death notice in the Feb 12, 1963 Chicago Daily Tribune is listed here. A search of the paper's Archives section for that day reveals that there was also an article in the paper about GGD, which appears to have much more information about him, and his fortunes. Even with a subscription to the online version of the paper, you need to pay them a fee, in order to receive a printed copy of the document.

Perhaps there are other ways to see what was written in that paper that won't cost anything. Or, for those related or interested, the fees might be deemed reasonable. George was apparently a wealthy man.

The death notice reads as follows:

DEWEY

George Goodwin Dewey, Feb. 10, 1963, of 1446 N. Dearborn st, son of the late Adm. George and Susan Dewey. At Jordan Funeral Home, 221 E. Erle street. Service St. Chrystostom's church. Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. interment private.

(They didn't capitalize street or church)
