Hi!

I just joined this list yesterday after finally finding out the middle name of
my ggg grandfather, Vincent Dilliard Harrison. I have been trying to link the
Harrisons in Bartholomew County, IN for about two years and am part of a group
of Harrison genealogists who contribute their information to the Harrison
Genealogy Repository on the WWW. I am still very much an amateur genealogist.

All the documents I have always list Vincent's middle name as the intitial
"D". I checked the new Bureau of Land Management's website yesterday and lo
and behold the photographic image of his land patent clearly had his middle
name as "Dilliard". This is not a surname which shows up in my family line
and I would very much like to find out about it and hope it will lead me to
his parents. His firstborn children were named Thomas and Sarah and so I am
wondering if perhaps his mother's name was Sarah Dilliard. Below is the
information I have collected about him so far.

All advice is appreciated.

Notes:
Bartholomew Co., IN - Founded 1-9-1821; formed from Jackson County and
Delaware county. The new county extended far westward until part of it was
trimmed away to Brown county in 1836. Settlers mostly came from KY, VA and
the Carolinas, and found a burgeoning little village in the 1820's, but also
conditions that made for slow growth. The largely swampy and malaria-infested
environs invited dreaded frontier diseases.

Thomas Harrison was one of the earliest purchasers of land in Columbus, IN.
6th St. was originally named Harrison Street. Thomas died ca. 1834.

Thomas' son, William, was a blacksmith in Columbus and preceded Thomas in
death ca. 1832.

Carter "Pap" Harrison settled in Wayne Township about 1830 and was born ca.
1750-1760.

Vincent had land patent dated 9-25-1835 as did a Henry Harrison. Henry,
Vincent and Carter "Pap" Harrison first show on Bartholomew County's 1830
federal census.

Rev. W. Harrison served as a pastor of a county Methodist church after 1856.

Enoch Harrison built the Elizabethtown Methodist Church, ca. 1854.

Tombstone: Vinson D., husband of Rebecca Harrison, Died July __, 1857, aged
