Seeking info on JOHN DILLON, b 1823--26 LISBELLAW, CO FERMANAGH IRELAND. Lived in CO CAVAN. Son of JOHN DILLON--MARY [MURPHY] DILLON. Married in 1847 to MARY [WELSH] DILLON b Co Kerry, Ireland, 1829. Came to the USA 1849--51, lived in MONGAUP VALLEY, TOWN OF BETHEL, SULLIVAN CO, NY from 1852 till his death in 1908. He was a farmer. His obituary states "His family on both sides were prominently involved in the failed Revoultion of 1798 under Emmet". [In Ireland]
His eldest son, THOMAS DILLON [my ggrandfather] was also a sucessful farmer in MONTICELLO, NY. Another son , JOHN J DILLON , was the owner and publisher if a nationally acclaimed farm newspaper, THE RURAL NEW YORKER, from the early 1900's till his death in 1950. ................
