Hi,
I can find no proof other than word of mouth, my great-grandmother was
said to be
Cherokee by part of the family and Creek by others. (Full-blooded)
Her name was Mary Franklin b. abt 1836 d.1879. She married John Jackson
Dixon
b.September 1823 d. 1914. Both are buried in a Dixon cemetery near St.
George, Ga.
One Census stated she was born in Ga, another S.C.
Their Children were:
Elizabeth Dixon b. 1852
Eli Dixon b. July 23, 1853 Ga d.November 03,1924
Abram Dixon b.December 5, 1855 Ga d. 1942? St. Augustine, Fl
Catherine Dixon b. 1856 Ga
George W. Dixon b. 1857 Ga d. 1888 Ga
William Riley Dixon b. October 15, 1858 Ga d. December 11, 1935 Fl
Missouri Dixon b. 1859 Ga
Martha Ann America Dixon b. July 4, 1862 Fl d. July 04, 1942
John Dixon b. 1864 Fl
Irvin (Erwin) Dixon b. 1868 Fl. d. January 14, 1935 Fl
Nathan Dixon b. July 04, 1871 Ga d. November 05,1942 Ga
Niram (Hiram) b. November 27, 1874 Fl. d.October 21, 1969 Ga.
Delvania (Vanie, Vaney) Dixon b. October 1876

I have lots of information on some of these families and their
descendants.
