Hello!

If I understand you correctly, your wifes maternal grandfather (we will call
him John) is known to have a father ( lets call him Paul) but you and fellow
alive, you can have John, or one of his male descendants Y-DNA tested. I
suggest at least a 37 marker test. You want to be pretty sure that they are
"actual" descendants as this could get expensive and confusing.
