All,

I had a 37 marker test done on FTDNA on my brother, surname Russell.
Earliest known ancestor was born about 1790 in Ireland (believe Republic of
Ireland). The suspected haplogroup came back as I2b1 and I've ordered the
next test to find the sub clade(?). My ysearch id# is W8Y9N. My questions
are: Has this haplogroup definitively been associated with Doggerland? Was
this group a Germanic tribe? I seem to match no one on the Russell surname
list - in fact, most Russells seem to be R1b. Would this mean that there
just hasn't been enough Russells tested yet or perhaps there have been many
people with the surname Russell from different areas?

Bottom line, whatever light anyone can shed on my results would be
appreciated.

Regards,

Liz Russell

PS - Also had mtDNA done as well - family from southern Italy - came back
HV. Doesn't seem to be so much talk out there about maternal DNA. What can
be found with these results - is it just to wait and see a match on FTDNA?
