Hi - just returned to see your email. Thanks again for all your help!

Hello,
The new tests that you need use about 500,000 autosomal single nucleotide
polymorphisms (SNPs). The older autosomal tests use 9 to 27 autosomal short
tandem repeats (STRs).
Although the older tests are good for determining which of three unrelated
men is a child's father, they are not going to be high resolution enough to
sort out a complex relationship like the one you are dealing with.

Thank you so much for your help. It's all new to me but it's starting to
make sense.
I am away for the next week so will look into it a bit more when I return.
Belle and Eddie's daughter are happy to do the autosomal test. I wondered
what they should specify in terms of data (markers?) to be included in the
test results.
Thanks again. I really appreciate your time and trouble.

Hello,
Sadly, the men being closely related on the Y-DNA line prevents their
Y-chromosome from being helpful here.
The good news it that even with the double relationship, one of the
new autosomal tests will still work. I checked with one of the
companies to be sure.
You would want to start by testing Belle and one of Eddie's children.
A daughter would actually be best as she would have Eddie's
X-chromosome too. If Eddie and Belle were full siblings then the
relationship will be clearly Aunt/niece-nephew. If you can afford it,
then you should also test one of Bob's children as well for
comparison.
Does that make sense?
