Hi,
This JOHN DODD is a very elusive person. We know he married SARAH POTEET ca
1783 in Bedford Co VA. Sarah was the daughter of Keziah and William Poteet.

William Dodd, John's brother, shows up on the Bedford Co VA Personal Property
Tax lists for 1784 and 1785 but John does not.

William Dodd shows up on the Franklin Co Va Personal Property Tax list
starting 1786 thru 1805. JOHN is only on the Franklin list for 1787 and 1788.

Where does JOHN go after that??? We know he is not dead because he and Sarah
keep having children. In the book, Montgomery County, Virginia - Circa 1790,
on pg 105, there is a John Dodd listed. John is listed for 1790, 1791, 1792,
and 1793. I think this is our JOHN DODD. Montgomery is right next to
Franklin Co. He has to be somewhere and everyone paid tax. This also
explains how Sarah shows up in Franklin for marriages of her children and
for the court case after their son William dies.

I could not find a will in Montgomery Co VA for John Dodd but that would have
been to simple.
