Subject: Re: [DVHH] Greetings & Wishes
Here, here! Merry Christmas to all -- and REMEMBER when you gather together with your families, to write down those family stories and heritage recipes!
Also, remember "Roll Call" is coming up. To explain to our new subscribers, it has become customary, shortly after the first of the year to post our Family Surnames and the DonauschwabenVillages from which they hail, so that other researchers of the same surnames and locales may find a possible connection. Of course this is recorded permanently in the Rootsweb Archive, so even years later a cousin may find you as a result of your posting.
If you don't already have this information compiled or updated, it's a good time to start thinking about it -- especially if you are about to spend time with relatives who may help fill in a blank or two.
Need a quick gift for a family member? Print off a tree or genealogy chart or a transcribed family record on some "parchment" paper from the office supply store & tie them with satin ribbon or pop them into a purchased mat; share some old photos as prints or on disk, or even photograph some family heirlooms in your possession so other family members can partake in the keepsake. Sharing the results of your genealogy research is a wonderful gift and will be treasured for years to come -- perhaps even passed on to another generation. Don't wait for it to be "finished!"
I wish each and every one of you -- our Danube Swabian virtual family -- a Very Happy Christmas!
Best to you and yours,
Nancy Fredenberg
