I have tested the Google and Microsoft translators. They do a good job with
simple sentences. The translations of long and complex sentences are poor
and often the meaning is either unclear or completely wrong. If you can
write in a style of short, simple sentences these may be quite sufficient.
Here is a link to the Microsoft translator: www.microsofttranslator.com Here
too, you can paste the text into a text box and get the translation in
another. If you install the Windows Live toolbar
(http://download.live.com/toolbar) you can set an option button on the bar,
"Translate", which will place a webpage right into the translator (it does
not work with all pages). Often more entertaining than useful.

Dan -- thanks for that link. I think it could also come in handy writing
letters to Europe in German or Czech or whatever language you need. I
think if I use simple enough sentences, my letter could be understandable.
