Can anyone help me with information on my grandmother's family? My
grandmother was Mabel Florence Mitchell, born 5 January 1883 or (possibly
1885) in Portland (county of Dorset) to Henry Dryer (or Dryson) Mitchell, a
mason, and Sarah Ann (Dennis) Mitchell. My grandmother's sisters were Ethel
May(?) Mitchell (later Givens) and Beatrice Rose Mitchell; her brother was
Lionel Gordon Mitchell, and there may have been a younger brother Reggie as
well. I have only a family picture which must have been taken around 1888
with a list of names on the back in a great-aunt's spidery handwriting. It
also lists : Fred Mitchell, Will Mitchell, Polly Atwell "Kit's wife"; my
grandmother's "Uncle Bob" Mitchell, George Mitchell, Jamie Atwell "Bob's
wife"; Kit(?) Mitchell (my great-grandfather Henry's brother), "Aunt (and
I'm guessing at the writing here) Sukie," Mitchell, Henry's sister; her
daughter Daisy; "Aunt Bess" Mitchell, "Aunt Pat" Mitchell, "Aunt Maud"
Mitchell, and May "Aunt Sukie's(?) other daughter". My great-great
grandparents are also in the picture, referred to as "Grandpa" and "Grandma"
Mitchell. Most important to me would be to find out about my
great-grandparents (names, dates, etc.), but if anyone has information on
anyone else listed, it would be welcome. Also, if there are any Mitchell
descendants reading this, I would very much like to hear from you...
