My name is Don Paterson ;I live in NZ and have only recently ventured on to
the NET after doing a SeniorNet course.I have been trying to trace the
family tree using the Births ,Deaths and Marriages Index in the library.
Have also tried that part of the 1851 census available there too.
Have come unstuck on my grandfather ( maternal ).Based on info from his
marriage and death certificates -
LOUIS SEARLE was born in Weymouth in 1848/49.
Robert , his father , was a farmer : his mother Ann (maiden name PAY )
Louis left for the goldfields of Victoria when in his teens -about
1865 - and married Ann Carr in Bendigo in 1871 : he died in Melbourne in
1895.
Any info on these Searles would be greatly appreciated.
