Milton Parva - can't find it anywhere. The only thing that did cross my mind
is that there is a MINTERNE MAGNA. Minterne could be mistakenly
heard/written as Milton. In 1841 spelling was phonetic. Mill's book on
Dorset place names (again!) mentions MINTERNE PARVA as being " in Minterne
Magna".
It isn't mentioned in any of my gazeteers but my OS Landranger maps shows
Minterne Parva as being just south west of Minterne Magna (only a couple of
buildings marked). It would have been part of Minterne Magna parish and
would have been included with MM for census returns. There is a big house
between MM and MP with lovely gardens which are open to the public. The
Minternes are halfway between Dorchester and Sherbourne, just north of Cerne
Above.
Apart from this I think Paul's suggestion of Hinton Parva is the only other
alternative. This is in the east of the county, north of Wimborne.
