Just to let you know that I am now back - and I would like to thank Alan for
holding the fort for nearly 4 weeks! It's much appreciated, Alan.

If you have sent me a message or a look up request over the last 4 weeks I'm
afraid you might have to wait a while for a reply. I downloaded nearly 300
messages to my in box yesterday and haven't even started to look at them!
September is a hectic month so I can't see myself replying to many before
the end of the month. Sorry! If you need to get my attention urgently, put
the word urgent in the subject line!


Here's the off-topic bit....this is my virtual postcard; you'll have to
imagine the picture! I had a good holiday - a week 'at home' near Cambridge
(though I haven't lived there for 24 years!) followed by a 2 week family
holiday on Anglesey, North Wales. The weather was appalling much of the
time, but never mind! We visited lots of castles (Beaumaris, Caernarfon,
Conwy), stately homes (Play Newydd, Plas Mawr and Penryn) and the beautiful
gardens at Bodnant. Three generations of Jones's climbed Snowden (Steve and
his brother Trefor, our daughter Katy and Steve's Dad); Rachel had a couple
of hacking sessions cantering alongside the Menai Strait; we visited/shopped
in Bangor and Llandudno; Steve did a fair bit of birdwatching and all 3
girls reverted to type when presented with empty beaches, sand and rock
pools! We stayed in a lovely, remote farmhouse with just sheep and cows for
company! No computer or phone and just a tiny TV so we played lots of
scrabble and monopoly and read plenty of books. I took no family history
with me at all, despite having Anglesey ancestry...though I did sneak a
visit to the Parys Mountain copper mines where my lot slaved.

Hope everyone's research is going well and that you're all breaking down
those brick walls!
