Helen,

I'm sure you appreciate this but does everybody? When I see this long list of people moving to Motcombe I have to think, where on earth did they all live? As you know Motcombe and Enmore Green were the same parish so in fact a lot of these people presumably moved to Enmore Green rather than Motcombe. Enmore Green is today a part of Shaftesbury. I doubt whether many of these people ever set their foot in Motcombe village. I recognise a few of the names and can therefore vouch for the fact that the families settled down there and remained there for the next hundred years. But that is literally only a few. Of course I realise that families died out etc. but I'm stil inclined to think that most of them actually moved to somewhere much closer Shaftesbury than Motcombe.
