Hi Richard

As I have not yet seen any replies to the list I'll put my 2 cents worth in :-)

There should be more information on the marriage certificate than you
have given
that may help in your search. If you do have the certificate you
should tell us a bit more.

As well as Mary Amelia's and John's ages and occupations, the
certificate should also have their fathers names and occupations. If
you don't have all the details from the certificate you should obtain
the actual certificate.

The following found on the FreeBMD website looks to be the index
details for Mary & John's marriage:

Marriages Jun 1890
--------------------------------------------------------
Regn District Vol Page Transcriber
AVERY John Blandford 5a 503 Squiffysue
BRIDLE Mary Amelia Blandford 5a 503 Calverphildown
FIANDER Ann Eliza Blandford 5a 503 Squiffysue
WOOLRIDGE Philip Blandford 5a 503 Dyas

From 1852 a full page in an actual marriage register contains two
marriages, hence the four names shown with the same index details
above. Prior to that, from the start of civil registration in 1837,
there were four marriages to a page.

To get the marriage certificate you would need to quote all of the
details except the code for the transcriber
ie Marriage June quarter 1890, the name(s) *exactly* as in the
index, the registration district, the volume number and the page
number.

If you know Mary's age, you may be able to look up her birth index
details and get her birth certificate. That would give her birthplace
as well as the names of both parents.

I could not find any trace of Mary Amelia BRIDLE on my 1881 census CD
set. On the other hand, could your Mary Amelia be the Amelia Maria
Wills BRIDLE aged 19, Occ: Nurse (D Serv), born Bridport who is
visiting a CHURCHILL family at West Street, Crewkerne at the time of
the 1881 census?

Hope some of this helps :-)
