Hi List,
I have been very impressed with this List which I joined quite recently,
having shared data with several kind folk: thank you all.
I was directed to the Dorset OPC project yesterday and found several useful
items of data, including the 1861 census of Burton Bradstock, which gave
more details of the family of John Swain, Master mariner b. 1825, which were
new to me. The 1881 census adds another daughter, the father being a widow
by then. The mother, Emma C. was traced as being alive in 1873, as some
letters to her from her seaman son have been found. Can SKS help me to find
the family in Burton Bradstock in 1851, in case there were some older
children? It might also give other pertinent details,
With good wishes, Oliver.
