I like your idea of just typing Rootsweb.com as the URL. To add to what
you've said, I find it's also easy to go to Google.com and enter
"rootsweb" and the name of the list. Invariably, the list archives'
address appears within the first few hits.

As you have said, the archives are well worth searching. They are
another good reason to send all queries and responses to the list,
rather than privately. Likewise, it's nice to have message board posts
in the archives. Posts may be irrelevant to us now, but those posts may
provide a link or break down a brick wall or two some time in the future.
