Can anyone suggest where in Dorset "Assets" might be?

The name is written quite clearly as a birthplace in an out-of-county 1881 census. It is definitely what the enumerator meant to write, but perhaps not what he should have heard?

If it's the man I think it may be, I would expect a placename near Steeple in the Purbeck hills.
