Someone recently wondered aloud on the list about what had become of
the DNA research being done by LDS. I just received the following from
another list. I don't know for a fact at this point that it relates at
all to the DNA reseach by the LDS, but I assume it does. Anyway, it
should be interesting.

On Tuesday, January 21st, at 9 pm. there's a 2-hour program on Public
Television (PBS). The program title is THE JOURNEY OF MAN and it will
examine the latest in genetic evidence to tell the story of the great
migrations of man through history. It will be hosted by Dr. R.
Spencer Wells, a world-renowned geneticist and the leader of a project
that has traveled the world over the last several years taking blood
samples from native populations. It is supposed to be a national
telecast, but you might want to check your own PBS schedule for that
evening. For those in the UNC-Chapel Hill viewing area (WUNC), here's
the link for the program's content:

Dr. Wells takes you to his travels to Africa, Australia, Siberia, the
Middle East, the Himalayas and the United States to piece together our
history with clues gathered along the way . . . . . facial features,
cultural artifacts, fossils and meteorological records. The series
will synthesize the latest evidence from many different scientific
fields - genetics, linguistics, anthropology and paleoclimatology - to
explain our exceptional survival against all odds.
