Nathan, the line I am thinking of (if I were right) would not be from
Matthew of Stokes Co. (son of the first Azariah Doss). But we do need to
test one of his descendants and one of James of Pittsylvania and one of
Jeremiah, don't we?

The more the better. I've always wanted to try to recruit a descendant of
Matthew Doss of Stokes Co., NC too!

This is really interesting. This confirms that we are really seeing
Thomas's DNA, doesn't it? Carl Doss, I think it's time for you and your
brother to consider joining our DNA study. You just might match this Thomas
line. You all seem to be coming out of North Carolina about the same time.
Hmmm... Interesting!

T-2 on the Patriarch Page, i.e., a descendant of Anderson Doss.

Janice or Nathan,

Would one of you please give us the lineage for this second descendant of
Thomas? I must have missed it the first time. Thanks,

The results for a second descendant of Thomas Doss (b. 1794 VA) have been
received and posted on the site
http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/d/doss/results.html

The new results indicate that descendants of two of Thomas's sons have
almost perfect matches (36 out of 37 markers). Therefore, we can now feel
more confident in accepting the modal haplotype as representative of Thomas
Doss himself.

Why does his signature not match other Dosses in the area where he lived?
There are three possibilities:
1. He is not related to them
2. He was adopted
3. He, or his father, grandfather, etc. was illegitimate

I also wanted to invite you guys to take a look at a new website I'm
building: http://www.immigrantservants.com
