Well done all you subscribers - our 100th joined just before lunchtime
today. Actually, I'm cheating a bit, because a couple of you are so
enthusiastic that you get both the mail AND the digest versions, but if you
don't tell anyone, I won't either!
Now that we have a good sized base for some statistical analysis, let's get
down to the nitty-gritty of the DPS - technology and how we use it in our
genealogical research.
Could everyone please answer two questions:
1. what genealogical software do you use as your primary database (please
include the version number where applicable)
2. what "satisfaction rating" would you give it on a scale of 1 (awful) to
10 (perfect)
Please email the replies to me directly, so that we only have 100 emails
flying through cyberspace rather than the 10,100 we would have if responses
were sent to the list. I will then collate them, and in a week or so
publish the "league table".
By "primary database" I mean the software which you use to record the
majority of your data. Many of us use two (or even more) different
packages, generally to take advantage of specific features in one that are
lacking in another. For example, some people might think that data entry in
PAF is brilliant, but the reports from FTM are also the best, so they enter
their data into PAF and then GEDCOM it to FTM to print a specific report.
In this case, PAF is the primary database. Clear? (as mud...?)
