I sell a range of family history software, but I don't sell Family Tree
Maker, for several reasons:

1. The confusing range of versions of FTM that are available, which includes
not only the current version 4 (recently upgraded to 5) but the previous
version 3 which is sold as the so-called "Basic Edition". There are also
several versions available which include a varying number of CD-ROMs of US
historical data.

2. I strongly disagree with the manner in which FTM treats Christening and
Burial information, giving strong emphasis to Birth, Marriage and Death
information, which of course is irrelevant if researching pre-1830
ancestors. Almost all other software gives equal emphasis to Birth,
Christening, Marriage, Death and Burial information, which is the way it
should be.

Cheers,

Phil.
