I don't think I would be letting too many cats out of the bag if I say
that, as of now, the survey shows FTM with 16 users and an average
satisfaction rating of 7.72, while Reunion for Windows & Generations
(combined because they are really the same program) has 10 users with an
average satisfaction rating of 8.19. Thus the sample size is, in my
opinion, sufficiently large to make the numbers meaningful. At this stage,
FTM is rated behind both Generations and BK, and ahead of PAF (among the
most popular systems).

FTM suffers from the major deficiency (at least in Australian/UK research)
of not allowing for the dual recording of birth and baptism dates, likewise
death and burial dates.

Personally, having played with both FTM V4.4 and Legacy V2.0, I rate Legacy
ahead on overall ease of use. However, I have not used either as a
full-blown primary system - just investigated them in the line of duty <g>.
Neither have I used Reunion/Generations, so it may prove to be every bit as
good as Legacy.

I also think that support in Australia is nowhere near as bad as you make
out, at least in NSW where the local distributor (Phil Young) has an
excellent rapport with his customers. Don't judge the overall product on
the strength (or lack of it) of one distributor.

Bruce, you should also consider why you want to change to FTM. Is it
because Reunion doesn't do what you want it to do, or is it because you
don't have a supplier to whom you can refer problems? If the latter, I am
sure there are a number of subscribers to this list who will attempt to
answer any queries you care to post.
