Subject: Generations Features List
Date: Thu, 15 Oct 1998 06:44:08 +1000
Following a couple of claims in this list that Generations is "dead" and
"has no future" etc, I found the Features List for Generations v5.2 in the
Generations Mailing List, and I've copied it here for your information.
It's an exciting list of improvements, and I'm eager to see it soon.

Through recent conversations with Sarah Ford with Sierra, I was
allowed to publish a list of Generations 5.2 features to this mailing
list. Release is still expected later this fall.
" The core product of Generations will be almost identical to Reunion
5 (for Mac). We've beefed up a few areas and removed a very few
features. We have also added in several databases that help the user
on their research efforts.
EASYCHART
3 unique new EasyChart chart types:
- - Enhanced Hourglass Chart - ancestors and descendants plus
non-direct-line blood relatives such as siblings, aunts, uncles etc.
all in one chart.
- - Enhanced Pedigree Chart - again, the option to include all blood
relatives, but this time in a pedigree only chart
- - Timeline Chart - Lets you see whose lives overlapped and how
Plus all charts will allow unlimited size, and more generations (99 -
up from the current 35 limit). You'll also get to add captions with
lines and
arrows, include any fields (fact, event, etc.) on the charts; coloured
text in chart boxes; coloured shadows; independently coloured borders,
fills, lines; dashed lines.
