Subject: Sending Pictures as BMP files through email
Date: Sat, 07 Nov 1998 14:29:41 -0800

Hi List

I recently received an email with a picture attached. The picture had
been scanned as BMP, and was 1600k. It took over 15 minutes to get my
mail that day, so I wrote back to the person who sent it to me, and
suggested that in future he should send picture files as JPG or some
other compressed form of picture. He said it only took 4 minutes to
send, and that compressing them doesn't really make any difference.

I think this was an excessively large file to send as an email - am I
being nitpicky??
I haven't had a lot to do with attachments, and the few I have had have
been around 100k. What sort of size are pictures sent as JPG files??

Thanks for any help

Elizabet
