Dear Pamela Dowling:

I am using my husband's e-mail address to write to you.
There are a few coincidences here that I would like to investigate.
My father's name was Robert Henry Russell, grandson of Robert Russell
and Susan Watt. Susan left Robert in the late 1800's and went to New
Zealand, with all his brothers and sisters. My gfather stayed in
Victoria with his father. Robert Russell, Susan's husband was the
illegitimate son of Agnes Russell and Donald McDermott. He was born in
Dunbar, East Lothian. It is curious that you have these names in your
research.
The other coincidence is the name Milgate. I have this name prominently
in my mother's family history. As I understand all Milgates are
related, I would love to know which branch of the family you belong to.
My mother's paternal grandmother was Eliza Ann Milgate, daughter of
William Milgate and Anne Tillman, from Rye and Peasmarsh in Sussex.
They emigrated to Australia in 1838 and settled in Orange, where Eliza
married William Moses Baker.

If there is any link anywhere, I would love tohear from you.

Joy Partridge
