I have diligently checked all the known BDM references in NZ for David George Macdonald formerly of 5 Moa Point Road, Rongatai, WELLINGTON but have been unable to locate him.
Last contact was Feb 1968 and I was told he went to Sydney.
Researching The Early Canterbury Run Holders with the intention of re-writing the history of the Macdonald family who settled in Canterbury- NZ in 1852 after the disastrous Australian droughts of 1850 - 1851. The Macdonald brothers - Allen R. - William Keith & Angus were very promident in the farming of merino sheep on the Canterbury Plains, and High Sheep Station Runs. Their sheep run at Orari and Pakahi on the Canterbury Bight was around 20,000 acres. William Keith Macdonald was a very keen horseman who had a black Arabian horse called Niger and he won the princely sum of 50 pounds by beating Sir Charles owned by M. Studholme.
