I have two ancestors - unrelated - for whom I cannot find a birth registration. According to marriage and death certificates, one was born in Melbourne 10 October, 1856 (date from family bible), and the other at Collector, near Goulburn about 1864. I have tried all manner of combinations of their names, abbreviations, etc. without any luck on the respective state bdm.

Has anyone got any suggestions of why, or where I could further search?
