Hi Sue,

439 Bourke St is near the corner of Albion Street Surry Hills.

If you have access to a library with the Sands Post Office Directory and the
Electoral Rolls for the area will tell you who and or what was there at that
time.

You might also like to contact the City of Sydney Council who have a very
good website with searchable databases which include, documents, photos and
a link to the Investigator Search. Very much worth a visit.
