Hi Helen,
If it is simply that the icons insist on being on the left and won't stay
where you put them, try this:
Right click on an empty space on the desktop.
Choose "Arrange Icons"
Uncheck "Auto Arrange"
Now they'll stay where you put them.
Otherwise I don't know why they'd be "dancing" and suggest it may be a
hangover from the virus.
