Subject: SURVEYORS WHO HELPED DEVELOP NSW SINCE 1788
Date: Sun, 1 Feb 2004 20:31:55 +1100
Hi,
Just a note to let people know that I am compiling a List of all the Surveyors who helped develop NSW since 1788 and up to June 2003 ---- a voluntary project that is being done through the Institution of Surveyors Inc. (NSW Division), and which started in May 2001.. At present I have over 4,000 names listed with limited details on each Surveyor. In some instances I have only the name, initials and date of being granted a Licence/Registration to practice as a Surveyor. In other cases I have a fair amount of information. I hope to have the list completed shortly, but it will take another 4 - 5 years to collate the information on every Surveyor listed (where this is possible). I will be making the List of Surveyors available free of cost on CD to the larger Family History organisations. The detailed information is expected to be placed on the Web for all to see, this won't happen for 1 -- 2 years and then it will be regularly updated as I progress with my research.
If anyone out there has an ancestor who was a Surveyor, I would like to hear from you -- particularly if you can give me any information about him. If you think that an ancestor may have been a Surveyor, you are welcome to email me. I am still finding Surveyors who have been in hiding for more than a century. You may contact me at .
