Thankyou Rhonda
The Sydney Town Hall Collection also has it I have been in touch with their
archivist.
The hope of positively linking the etching to 23 kent street is fading
You had me look further and there is an image on line at Picture Australia
http://www.pictureaustralia.org/apps/pictureaustralia?action=PADisplay&mode=display&rs=resultset-78519&no=82
or
http://australianprints.gov.au/Search/Detail.cfm?SearchID=2&WorkID=92516&SRCHV=1&ZoomID=6
There is very little that looks like it would show in today's Kent St
envions, even in the background.
It just maybe a fit with 21 and 23 Kent St
IF next to the horse is the cottage no 21 Kent (corner of Kent & Argyle) and
the view is from Argyle St with the pub at 19 Kent st to the artists back??
the road falls fairly steeply to the right which would fit with Argyle st
leading down to Darling harbour? The barrels would fit with a pub being
across the road.... Maybe we shall never know, but its fun trying
