Hi again Lorraine, Thanks for the look-up...wonder if you could have another
go at maybe a census 1861 Eastwood,Renfrewshire or Pollockshaws,Lanarkshire
for my John Drain son of Henry1 as 2 of his siblings were born there, It's
also where Henry and Jane both died. Jane is on 1881 census at 44 Main St,
Eastwood a Widow as Henry died after a fall from ladder aged 50 1872. I know
that John was already living and working[granite hewer] at wickersgill shap,
Westmorland before he married Margaret McTurk, he would have been 17 at
youngest then. His death cert implies he was born 1850, second marriage cert
1853, so on 1861 census would show as between 8-11.
It would be marvellous if you could find something....Kind Regards Lyn.

Hi Lyn
Sorry can't find anything. This may be because the parish didn't have the
records transcribed. There are a few Drains in County Down, but most were
born after the period you are looking at. I checked the marriages as well
with no luck. The CD set says that the records for Ireland are for the
years
1845 - 1874 but are not complete for any given year.

Sorry.

Regards
Lorraine.
