And to those who helped with this. I think I will have to try another burial location.

Hello again,

The second Reid ancestor I am searching for is Samuel Reid, also born in the early 1800s in Borrisokane, County Tipperary, Ireland. Also came to Canada after 1831 and probably was in the Dufferin area as well. He is a brother to William and Thomas Reid (there were actually six brothers - Joshua, Thomas, John, William, James and Samuel).

According to the "history", Samuel was out alone one night and was attacked by a mob of Roman Catholics, and would have been murdered had it not been for the timely arrival of a woman who saved him. Unfortunately, he died some time later, probably from his injuries. It doesn't give an indication of his age at the time of the attack, not does it say whether he was married or not.

Does anyone have the gravestone inscription book for Mono College in Dufferin as I see from the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid that there is a Samuel buried there and thought perhaps this might be him.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,
Tammy Guldbransen
