Greetings from Canada:
I am new to this list but am hopeful that someone can assist me in my
search for further information concerning James Mickel (now Meikle)and
his family. According to a petition for land in Nova Scotia in 1827 ;"
the petitioner is a native of Gallowayshire, Scotland emigrated to this
province in 1820, is about 53 years of age, married with a family of 8
children". James was married to Mary Turnbull, banns proclaimed at
Borgue, married at Girthon, Nov 12, 1798. His brother Alexander also
emigrated to Nova Scotia and family history says a third brother also
emigrated. James and family lived in Whitehaven prior to emigrating. I
have a lot of information on the family but have not had any luck going
back further. Can anyone help?
