Hi Steve,
Can’t help you with your Jardine question, but do you have any Murrays
or Grieves in your Thorburn family ?
When my gggrandparents John Murray and Janet Grieve emigrated to Canada
in 1841 with their eight children. They stopped in Ottawa as the story
goes to visit some relatives called “Thorburn” on their way to settling
in Perth county, Ontario.
John and Janet originally came from the Langholm - Ewes - Castleton area
then moved to Middlebie and Kirkpatick- Fleming before coming to Canada.
Do you know if any of your Thorburns came from any of these locations?
