Hello William Sloan
I am at present researching the name SLOAN on behalf of my son in law who is a
direct descendent. In particular William SLOAN of WIGTON, Cumberland.

I don't have a lot of information except that he was born about 1790 - 1800 in
Ireland (per census at Wigton 1851)

He had known children
Samuel (Bap 25.11.1826) who married Mary Ann Rome
[This our direct line down to present day]
John (Abt 1832)
George (Abt 7/1837 for whom B/cert at present awaited)
Elizabeth (Abt 7/1845 per St Catherines Ho refce)

The 1851 Wigton census shows William SLOAN as born in IRL. No idea where but
if there is any connection and you can help I would be much obliged. Where in
Ireland did your GGGGGF come from ?

There are a few SLOANs in the Wigton 1851 census and they all seem to have come
from Ireland.
