The Later Day Saints IGI is made up from information contributed to them by others researching thier family history - including the Mormans themselves. They do not verify the information only accept what people contribute. If someone does not have complete information themselves, or is not interested in a certain line of the family that information may not be in the contributed file. You can, however, usually get the contributors name from the file and contact them and maybe they have since added that information to what they had when they originally contributed or you may be able to help them add to the information they already have. Just be aware that the information is not complete (genealogy never is) and that there are often mistakes! I have found several errors in the information myself, with facts I know aren't true because I have verification of my date or name which is different. It can however be a great tool and can sometimes fill in information you couldn't g!

Hello

Thanks to those wonderful people who took time to make comments last
time I ventured onto this newsgroup.

I took the advice of some of you and did an IGI search. The LDS people
were extremely helpful and obliging. One question: is their database
comprised of people who have joined their church? The reason I ask this
is that many names (like the siblings of one of the people I looked up)
simply weren't there even tho' they lived in same area, same surnames
etc and there didn't seem to be a reason for this other than the church
membership one (as far as I could see).

Can anyone shed light on this?
