It is my understanding that the Civil B/M/D records were extracted and made
part of the I.G.I. which is searchable on-line. The Parochial records aka
"Scottish Church Records" are not online at the LDS site, but I believe
they are searchable at the Scottish Records Office "Origins" site.
Oh, by the way, I have been digging through all my old sources to make sure
that they are listed correctly (a long process of dotting "i"s and crossing
"t"s). I came across a JOHNSTONE, and seeing that it is such a popular
name on the list I thought I might share her with you.
Anne Rigg Rowan(My great grand aunt)shows up in the 1881 Census of
Scotland, Susan Johnstone family, Dumfries, Sanquhar, Vol. 848, ED #5, page
1. Here Anne is employed as a General Servant in the household of Susan
Johnston, an Annuitant. According to the census Susan was 100 years old!
Another servant in the home was Marion Howat.
What is an "Annuitant" any way? (is that like a pensioner?)

Subject:Civil Registration Details
Hi.
For the years 1855 to 1875 ( I think) the Scottish civil registrations of B
M Ds are available on film at the LDS Family History Centres.
Does anyone know if they are also available via the LDS web site please ?
It might be easier, and quicker, if they could be found there.
Thanks.
Pete
