Subject: Blood groups and genealogy

Hi Listers
Some time ago I was looking through some magazines in my doctors surgery and
came across an article about blood groups and genealogy.
It showed a map of the world which depicted the predominant blood groups
from around the globe. The article suggested that it was possible to
determine where you originated from by matching your blood group to
predominant blood groups on the map.
My question is how relevant is this to ones genealogy and is what the
article states true?
Despite cursory searches I have not found any other information about this
subject, but I would be interested to know a bit more. If anyone has any
knowledge please share it with the list and me.
regards
