Could someone help with some information concerning the IGI ?
I was working my way backwards through the Gibson family to find a
marriage and links to a Gibson/McKie marriage circa 1838. By using
census data and IGI I ascertained that one set of parents of the couple
I was looking for were a John McKie and Mary McNay. Using the IGI batch
numbers I searched all of the marriage and birth records for Sorbie with
no success but using just the names I was able to find birth and
marriage records that seem to match the census information. The batch #
on the Individual record for the marriage and the two births was 8414630
which, when I checked against the LDS catologue was listed as a "Patron
Submitted Form" with the explanation note:
"Use the IGI Batch Number Index rather than this record to identify film
numbers.
Individual entry forms and family group sheets used to submit names to
the
temples for temple work. Arranged by batch number for the year and
date
submitted."
Since the records aren't in the normal IGI batch # records does this
mean that there is no OPR record ?
How do I verify that the information is accurate or reliable ?
Sorry to be so longwinded but it is a little complicated and also
worrisome so I hope someone has had some experience in this particular
area.
