Hi Jean
Stenhouse is now a southwestern suburb of Edinburgh.
Your proposition that one man had two families in the 1700 ..one in Ayr and
one in Glencairn would, I think, be very unusual. What makes you believe it
was the same man? I have come across bigamous marriages in the late 1800s and
it is probable that some men abandoned families and took a new wife,
especially if they emigrated abroad.
The idea is intriguing ....... how about giving us chapter and verse??
